Storytelling for Climate Action

Given the urgency of the climate crisis, we must consider multiple ways of communicating climate change so that people of all backgrounds can find ways into the global conversation. Hear from experts in novels, storytelling, climate science, culture and science and PR communication about how they successfully reach different cli-fi audiences. Discover how literary journalist Dan Bloom's coinage in 2011 of the cli-fi term helped create a global platform of various cli-fi experts and literary critics who have given narrative shape to the climate crisis to reach decision-makers in cities of different sizes and political leanings, different consumers of cli-fi (climate fiction) novels and films, from activists to literature fans to scientists, and listeners of climate adaptation stories across the podcast medium. Learn how these climate crisis narratives meet and differ, how to navigate hope v despair through storytelling, and how to be a more effective climate communicator.

A 2017 podcast initially recommended and set up by cli-fi booster Dan Bloom with Doug Parsons chatting with Bloom's colleague the American Literary Critic Amy Brady after PR guy Dan recommended her to Doug and passed her name and contact information (email address, Twitter address) on to Doug. And Doug followed up on Dan's suggestion and the podcast soon happened!
